Workplace Diversity for The Walrus

In 2024, I was approached by The Walrus to create an illustration to accompany their upcoming article, “How Workplace Diversity Fails Indigenous Employees.” In the work, author Michelle Cyca shares that, despite efforts to improve workplace diversity, corporate diversity initiatives often fail to fundamentally address the needs and experiences of Indigenous workers. The article emphasizes that real progress requires moving beyond superficial diversity initiatives, and towards decolonization, in order to create inclusive environments that genuinely respect and incorporate Indigenous experiences and perspectives.
